Joe Ryan (interrogator)

Joe Ryan (interrogator)

Joe Ryan is an employee of CACI International Inc.; in early 2004 he was stationed at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq as an interrogator.

He kept an online diary for KSTP-AM, a St. Paul, Minnesota, radio station. The last entry was made on April 26, shortly before the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal broke in the media. Shortly after that date, the diary was removed from the radio station's website. However, a copy of the April 11-April 26 entries was retrieved from the Google cache. He had no formal interrogation training, like many of the CACI International Inc. employees.

Joe Ryan was subsequently fired from CACI International Inc. for his online diary.

The Ron Rosenbaum & Mark O'Connell show section on KSTP's website mentions Ryan as a friend of the show. It says, "Joe Ryan -- Frequent contributor and caller, Army translator and security expert, now overseas as an interrogator."

Famous quotes containing the word joe:

While we were thus engaged in the twilight, we heard faintly, from far down the stream, what sounded like two strokes of a woodchopper’s axe, echoing dully through the grim solitude.... When we told Joe of this, he exclaimed, “By George, I’ll bet that was a moose! They make a noise like that.” These sounds affected us strangely, and by their very resemblance to a familiar one, where they probably had so different an origin, enhanced the impression of solitude and wildness.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
