He and several other former shipyard workers later sued the company for their exposure to the dangerous substances but only won minimal compensation. There is a republican flute band from Glasgow named after Cahill.

Famous quotes containing the word death:
“We should stop looking to law to provide the final answer.... Law cannot save us from ourselves.... We have to go out and try to accomplish our goals and resolve disagreements by doing what we think is right. That energy and resourcefulness, not millions of legal cubicles, is what was great about America. Let judgment and personal conviction be important again.”
—Philip K. Howard, U.S. lawyer. The Death of Common Sense: How Law Is Suffocating America, pp. 186-87, Random House (1994)
“It is a strange, strange fate, and now, as I stand face to face with death I feel just as if they were going to kill a boy. For I feel like a boyand my hands so free from blood and my heart always so compassionate and pitiful that I cannot comprehend how anyone wants to hang me.”
—Roger Casement (18641916)
“Nor has his death the world deceivd
Less than his wondrous life surprizd;
For if he like a madman livd
At least he like a wise one dyd.”
—Miguel De Cervantes (15471616)
