Jimmy Wray

Jimmy Wray (born 28 April 1938) is a Scottish politician and former member of Parliament for Glasgow Baillieston and Glasgow Provan.

A former boxer, Wray was elected as a councillor to the then Glasgow Town Council in 1964 for Kelvinside, and moved over to the larger Strathclyde Regional Council in 1975 for Gorbals.

Wray is a left-wing member of the Labour Party, and is part of the Socialist Campaign Group. He is Eurosceptic, pro-Irish nationalist regarding Northern Ireland, and is opposed to abortion and the abolition of Section 28. He was tagged "I.R Wray" by Private Eye magazine.

Wray stood down as an MP at the 2005 general election following a stroke in December 2004. He has since recovered and is now retired.

He has four children, two girls and two boys.
