Famous quotes containing the words political career, political and/or career:

It is my settled opinion, after some years as a political correspondent, that no one is attracted to a political career in the first place unless he is socially or emotionally crippled.
    Auberon Waugh (b. 1939)

A political leader must keep looking over his shoulder all the time to see if the boys are still there. If they aren’t still there, he’s no longer a political leader.
    Bernard Baruch (1870–1965)

It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
