Lü Shang (Chinese: 呂尚; fl. 11th century BC), commonly known as Jiang Ziya (姜子牙) and Jiang Shang (姜尚), was an ancient Chinese military strategist who helped King Wen and King Wu of Zhou overthrow the Shang Dynasty. After King Wu established the Zhou Dynasty, Lü Shang was enfeoffed at Qi, which later developed into a powerful state in the Spring and Autum and Warring States periods. As the founder of the state of Qi, his posthumous title is Duke Tai of Qi (Chinese: 齊太公; pinyin: Qí Tài Gōng; literally "Grand Duke of Qi").
