Jesus In Ahmadiyya Islam

Similar to mainstream Islamic views, the Ahmadiyya Movement consider that Jesus was a mortal man, but unlike majority Islam, believe that Jesus died a natural death in Kashmir - as opposed to having been raised up alive to Heaven. They also believe that the Turin Shroud was of Jesus Christ.

Although the view of Jesus having migrated to India had also been researched in the literature of independent historians predating the foundation of the movement, the Ahmadiyya Movement is the only religious organization to adopt these views as a tenet of their faith, although independently of the early historians. The general notion of Jesus in India has also been discussed at length by modern western historians Grönbold and Klatt and publicized in several documentaries.

Famous quotes containing the words jesus and/or islam:

I fear it is the effect of this ordinance to clothe Jesus with an authority which he never claimed and which distracts the mind of the worshipper.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

During the first formative centuries of its existence, Christianity was separated from and indeed antagonistic to the state, with which it only later became involved. From the lifetime of its founder, Islam was the state, and the identity of religion and government is indelibly stamped on the memories and awareness of the faithful from their own sacred writings, history, and experience.
Bernard Lewis, U.S. Middle Eastern specialist. Islam and the West, ch. 8, Oxford University Press (1993)
