Famous quotes containing the word death:

An “unemployed” existence is a worse negation of life than death itself.
    José Ortega Y Gasset (1883–1955)

No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main.... Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in Mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
    John Donne (c. 1572–1631)

Death, the most dreaded of all evils, is therefore of no concern to us; for while we exist death is not present, and when death is present we no longer exist.
    Epicurus (c. 341–271 B.C.)
