Ancestry and Succession

His maternal grandparents were Prince George, Duke of Kent, the fourth son of King George V of the United Kingdom, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, known after her marriage as Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent. Famous quotes containing the words ancestry and, ancestry and/or succession:

Both the ancestry and posterity of Grief go further than the ancestry and posterity of Joy.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

I am, in point of fact, a particularly haughty and exclusive person, of pre-Adamite ancestral descent. You will understand this when I tell you that I can trace my ancestry back to a protoplasmal primordial atomic globule.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

There is the illusion of time, which is very deep; who has disposed of it? Mor come to the conviction that what seems the succession of thought is only the distribution of wholes into causal series.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
