Jack Vettriano - Personal Life

Personal Life

Divorced from his first wife, Vettriano divides his time between homes in London, Kirkcaldy and Nice, France. In 2004 he was awarded the OBE. He has claimed inspiration for his paintings in "25 years of sexual misbehaviour". In 2010 he told The Independent "I live in a world of heartbreak... I just seem to be more creative when I'm in some kind of emotional distress.", and said "It's been four years of soul-searching – nicotine, alcohol, anti-depressants, temazepam,". In 2010 he said about relationships "Whenever someone stays for longer than two days, I get cabin fever" and that he loves shoe shopping with women. He likes to gamble on the horses, but only bets what he can afford to lose. He has set up the Vettriano Trust, and plans to leave his money to it to do good work.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

... while one-half of the people of the United States are robbed of their inherent right of personal representation in this freest country on the face of the globe, it is idle for us to expect that the men who thus rob women will not rob each other as individuals, corporations and Government.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)

There is no calm philosophy of life here, such as you might put at the end of the Almanac, to hang over the farmer’s hearth,—how men shall live in these winter, in these summer days. No philosophy, properly speaking, of love, or friendship, or religion, or politics, or education, or nature, or spirit; perhaps a nearer approach to a philosophy of kingship, and of the place of the literary man, than of anything else.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
