Biography

Haley was the son of Irish Americans John Joseph Haley and Ellen (née Curley) Haley. Young Jack was one of six children. His siblings included three sisters (Kathleen, Ellen, and Mary) and two brothers (William and James). The family left Boston soon after Jack's birth, settling in Atlantic City, New Jersey, before moving to Terre Haute, Indiana by 1930.
