History
Jacana station opened on 15 February 1959, amid residential subdivision of the area. The railway through the area having opened in 1872 as part of the North East railway to Wodonga, and then electrified as far as Broadmeadows in 1921. Construction of the station required the slewing of both the up and down lines to make room for the platform, as well as the flyover for the standard gauge line under construction at the same time.
