Early Life

Kreuger was born in Kalmar, the eldest son of an industrialist in the match industry in Kalmar, Ernst August Kreuger (1852–1946) and his wife Jenny Emelie Kreuger (1856–1949) (nee Forssman). He had five siblings: Ingrid (born 1877), Helga (born 1878), Torsten (born 1884), Greta (born 1889) and Britta (born 1891). The Kreuger family owned several match factories in the Kalmar area. Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

    Foolish prater, What dost thou
    So early at my window do?
    Cruel bird, thou’st ta’en away
    A dream out of my arms to-day;
    A dream that ne’er must equall’d be
    By all that waking eyes may see.
    Thou this damage to repair
    Nothing half so sweet and fair,
    Nothing half so good, canst bring,
    Tho’ men say thou bring’st the Spring.
    Abraham Cowley (1618–1667)

    What is life but the angle of vision? A man is measured by the angle at which he looks at objects. What is life but what a man is thinking all day? This is his fate and his employer. Knowing is the measure of the man. By how much we know, so much we are.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
