Other Frameworks and Concern With The Overhead
Analogous to debates in software engineering between agile and prescriptive methods, there is debate between lightweight versus heavyweight approaches to IT service management. Lighter weight ITSM approaches include:
- ITIL Small-scale Implementation colloquially called “ITIL Lite” is an official part of the ITIL framework.
- FITS was developed for UK schools. It is a simplification of ITIL.
- CoPr or "copper calls for limiting Best Practice to areas where there is a business case for it, and in other areas just doing the minimum necessary.
- OpenSDLC.org is a Creative Commons ITSM/SDLC Framework Wiki.
- MOF 4 is a Microsoft Operations Framework covers the IT service management lifecycle with a practical focus.

Famous quotes containing the words concern and/or overhead:
“Much is made of the accelerating brutality of young peoples crimes, but rarely does our concern for dangerous children translate into concern for children in danger. We fail to make the connection between the use of force on children themselves, and violent antisocial behavior, or the connection between watching father batter mother and the child deducing a link between violence and masculinity.”
—Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)
“During a walk or in a book or in the middle of an embrace, suddenly I awake to a stark amazement at everything. The bare fact of existence paralyzes me... To be alive is so incredible that all I can do is to lie still and merely breathelike an infant on its back in a cot. It is impossible to be interested in anything in particular while overhead the sun shines or underneath my feet grows a single blade of grass.”
—W.N.P. Barbellion (18891919)
