Islamic View Of Isaac

Isaac (Arabic: إسحاق‎ or إسحٰق‎ ʾIsḥāq) is recognized as a patriarch, prophet and messenger of God by all Muslims. As in Judaism, Islam maintains that Isaac was the son of the prophet Abraham, from his wife Sarah. Muslims regard Isaac as highly important because they believe that it was Isaac and his older half-brother Ishmael who continued their father's legacy and preached the message of God after the death of Abraham.

Famous quotes containing the words view and/or isaac:

If we view our children as stupid, naughty, disturbed, or guilty of their misdeeds, they will learn to behold themselves as foolish, faulty, or shameful specimens of humanity. They will regard us as judges from whom they wish to hide, and they will interpret everything we say as further proof of their unworthiness. If we view them as innocent, or at least merely ignorant, they will gain understanding from their experiences, and they will continue to regard us as wise partners.
    Polly Berrien Berends (20th century)

My mother made me a scientist without ever intending to. Every other Jewish mother in Brooklyn would ask her child after school: So? Did you learn anything today? But not my mother. “Izzy,” she would say, “did you ask a good question today?” That difference—asking good questions—made me become a scientist.
