Lineage
Isabella's year of birth is suggested to have been 1234; however, her place of birth is disputed. She was a younger child of Hugh X de Lusignan, "le Brun", Seigneur de Lusignan, Count of La Marche and Isabella of Angoulême, widowed Queen-Consort of King John of England. Her paternal grandparents were Hugh IX of Lusignan, Count of La Marche, and Mathilde Taillefer of Angoulême, and her maternal grandparents were Aymer Taillefer, Count of Angoulême and Alice of Courtenay. She had five full brothers and three full sisters, besides her royal half-siblings from her mother's first marriage.

Famous quotes containing the word lineage:
“I declare
Two lineages electrify the air,
That will like pennons from a mast
Fly over sleep and life and death
Till sun is powerless to decoy
A single seed above the earth:
Lineage of sorrow: lineage of joy....”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
