Irish Cream

Irish cream is a cream liqueur based on Irish whiskey, cream, and other ingredients such as coffee, which can be served on its own or used in mixed drinks or as part of a shot or a whole shot. Irish cream is very popular in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

Irish cream typically has between 15 to 20% alcohol by volume (ABV). Some notable brands of Irish cream are Baileys, Carolans and Saint Brendan's.

The five largest manufacturers of Irish Cream Liqueurs in Ireland are (in no particular order) Diageo, Niche Drinks, First Ireland Spirits, Terra and Merry's.

Famous quotes containing the words irish and/or cream:

O Paddy dear, an’ did ye hear the news that’s goin’ round?
The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground!
No more Saint Patrick’s Day we’ll keep, his colour can’t be seen,
For there’s a cruel law agin the wearin’ o’ the Green!
—Unknown. The Wearing of the Green (l. 37–40)

It’s just like when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong. What do you do? You integrate it with cream, you make it weak. But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep.
    Malcolm X (1925–1965)
