Internet in China - Content

Content

According to Kaiser Kuo, the internet in China is largely used for entertainment purposes foremost, being referred as the "entertainment superhighway", but also serves as the first public forum for Chinese citizens to freely exchange their ideals. Most users go online to read news, to search for information, and to check email. They also go to BBS or web forums, find music or videos, or download files.

Famous quotes containing the word content:

They tell us that women can bring better things to pass by indirect influence. Try to persuade any man that he will have more weight, more influence, if he gives up his vote, allies himself with no party and relies on influence to achieve his ends! By all means let us use to the utmost whatever influence we have, but in all justice do not ask us to be content with this.
Mrs. William C. Gannett, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 5, ch. 8, by Ida Husted Harper (1922)

People disparage knowing and the intellectual life, and urge doing. I am content with knowing, if only I could know.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Know how to be content and you will never be disgraced; practice self-restraint and you will never be in danger.
    —Chinese proverb.

    Laozi.
