Curriculum
The program of study used is the International Baccalaureate which consists of the PYP (Primary Years Program), MYP (Middle Years Program) and the DP (Diploma Program). The teaching methodology stresses activity-based learning, and the children are encouraged to enjoy and participate in the investigation of all areas of study. The school offers a full range of subjects, including English, music, drama, mathematics, science, arts and crafts, music, design technology, physical education, humanities, French, Chinese, Korean and Mongolian. Teaching materials are primarily from Britain and the United States and instruction is in English. Classes in English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) are provided for those children who require it. ISU also provides SAT testing for high-school graduates. On Friday, September 14, 2012, ISC celebrates the 20th anniversary of its founding. The ceremony is attended by the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar and the US Ambassador to Mongolia, Piper Campbell.

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:
“If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.”
—Neil Kurshan (20th century)
