International Sailing Federation

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) is recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the world governing body for the sport of sailing.

Sailing is a very diverse sport primarily because there it is an equipment based sport. Competitive sailing takes place in or with many different types of boats including dinghies, windsurfers, multihulls, yachts, kitesurfing and radio controlled sailing boats. There are then the further disciplines of fleet racing, match racing and team racing together with speed records managed by World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) an independent body recognised by ISAF.

Famous quotes containing the words sailing and/or federation:

I saw three ships come sailing by,
Come sailing by, come sailing by,
I saw three ships come sailing by,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
—Unknown. As I Sat on a Sunny Bank. . .

Oxford Book of Light Verse, The. W. H. Auden, ed. (1938)

Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
