Famous quotes containing the words independent, university and/or moscow:

We are independent of the change we detect. The longer the lever, the less perceptible its motion. It is the slowest pulsation which is the most vital. Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I had a classmate who fitted for college by the lamps of a lighthouse, which was more light, we think, than the University afforded.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Napoleon is a torrent which as yet we are unable to stem. Moscow will be the sponge that will suck him dry.
    Mikhail Kutuzov (1745–1813)
