Network Addressable Units in a SNA network are any components that can be assigned an address and can send and receive information. They are distinguished further as follows:
- System Service Control Points, provide services to manage a network or subnetwork (typically in the mainframe),
- Logical Units, a logical collection of services that can be accessed from a network.
- Physical Units, a combination of hardware and software that control the links to other nodes.

Famous quotes containing the words network and/or units:
“Of what use, however, is a general certainty that an insect will not walk with his head hindmost, when what you need to know is the play of inward stimulus that sends him hither and thither in a network of possible paths?”
—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
“Even in harmonious families there is this double life: the group life, which is the one we can observe in our neighbours household, and, underneath, anothersecret and passionate and intensewhich is the real life that stamps the faces and gives character to the voices of our friends. Always in his mind each member of these social units is escaping, running away, trying to break the net which circumstances and his own affections have woven about him.”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
