Ian Brown would later perform B-side "Where Angels Play" live from 2004, and a new version was included on the b-side of his single, "Time Is My Everything". In 2006, the music magazine Q voted it 32nd in its list of 100 greatest songs of all time. In May 2007, NME magazine placed "I Wanna Be Adored" at number 17 in its list of the 50 Greatest Indie Anthems Ever.
Oasis reference The Stone Roses by quoting the song in "Magic Pie": "They are sleeping while they dream/And they just wanna be adored."
The song also features on the soundtrack of the Michael Winterbottom film Welcome to Sarajevo.
VH2 also placed the song at #2 on the Indie 500, a countdown of their top 500 indie songs of all time. Though "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths was at number one, on a condensed version showing just the top 50, the songs had swapped places with "I Wanna Be Adored" at number one.

Famous quotes containing the word reception:
“I gave a speech in Omaha. After the speech I went to a reception elsewhere in town. A sweet old lady came up to me, put her gloved hand in mine, and said, I hear you spoke here tonight. Oh, it was nothing, I replied modestly. Yes, the little old lady nodded, thats what I heard.”
—Gerald R. Ford (b. 1913)
“To the United States the Third World often takes the form of a black woman who has been made pregnant in a moment of passion and who shows up one day in the reception room on the forty-ninth floor threatening to make a scene. The lawyers pay the woman off; sometimes uniformed guards accompany her to the elevators.”
—Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
“To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
