United States
HHW is not regulated by the EPA. Many states and local solid waste management departments have created and funded Household Hazardous Waste facilities as well as one day collection events to offer safe disposal options for homeowners.
Although U.S. state and federal regulations continue to permit homeowner disposal of some household hazardous waste into the solid waste stream, state agencies are becoming more stringent in enforcing existing hazardous waste regulations at the retail level.

Famous quotes related to united states:
“United States! the ages plead,
Present and Past in under-song,
Go put your creed into your deed,
Nor speak with double tongue.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“The United States is just now the oldest country in the world, there always is an oldest country and she is it, it is she who is the mother of the twentieth century civilization. She began to feel herself as it just after the Civil War. And so it is a country the right age to have been born in and the wrong age to live in.”
—Gertrude Stein (18741946)
“Of all the nations in the world, the United States was built in nobodys image. It was the land of the unexpected, of unbounded hope, of ideals, of quest for an unknown perfection. It is all the more unfitting that we should offer ourselves in images. And all the more fitting that the images which we make wittingly or unwittingly to sell America to the world should come back to haunt and curse us.”
—Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)
“The United States themselves are essentially the greatest poem.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“The United States Constitution has proved itself the most marvelously elastic compilation of rules of government ever written.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
