Horse Thief - Present Day

Present Day

Horse theft is no longer a common offense and the term horse thief may in fact contain humorous connotations when used, due to being anachronistic. However, when the price of horse meat is relatively high, some horses are still stolen and shipped to slaughter, particularly those kept in remote rural areas, especially in the western United States.

Famous quotes containing the words present and/or day:

All questions rely on the present for their solution. Time measures nothing but itself. The word that is written may be postponed, but not that on the lip. If this is what the occasion says, let the occasion say it.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Two feathered guests from Alabama, two together,
And their nest, and four light-green eggs spotted with brown,
And every day the he-bird to and fro near at hand,
And every day the she-bird crouched on her nest, silent, with bright
    eyes,
And every day I, a curious boy, never too close, never disturbing
    them,
    Cautiously peering, absorbing, translating.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
