Holborn Tube Station

Holborn Tube Station

Holborn is a station of the London Underground in Holborn in London, located at the junction of High Holborn and Kingsway. Situated on the Piccadilly Line (between Covent Garden and Russell Square) and on the Central Line (between Tottenham Court Road and Chancery Lane), it is the only station common to the two lines, although the two lines also cross each other three times in West London. It is in Travelcard Zone 1.

It should not be confused with the closed Holborn tramway station which was part of the Kingsway tramway subway.

Famous quotes containing the words tube and/or station:

The last best hope of earth, two trillion dollars in debt, is spinning out of control, and all we can do is stare at a flickering cathode-ray tube as Ollie “answers” questions on TV while the press, resolutely irrelevant as ever, asks politicians if they have committed adultery. From V-J Day 1945 to this has been, my fellow countrymen, a perfect nightmare.
    Gore Vidal (b. 1925)

It was evident that the same foolish respect was not here claimed for mere wealth and station that is in many parts of New England; yet some of them were the “first people,” as they are called, of the various towns through which we passed.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
