Wisdom

Hendrikje van Andel-Schipper had stated that the secret to her longevity was a serving of herring every day and drinking orange juice. She later jokingly added "breathing." Famous quotes containing the word wisdom:

Those great and glorious actions that dazzle our eyes with their luster are represented by statesmen as the result of great wisdom and excellent design; whereas, in truth, they are commonly the effects of the humors and passions.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

Kings have many ears and many eyes.... They have ears that listen a hundred miles from them; they have eyes that espy out more things than men would think. Wherefore, it is wisdom for subjects not only to keep their princes’ laws and ordinances in the face of the world but also privily ... for conscience sake.
    Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466–1536)

    psychologist
Mothers with marriageable daughters ought to look out for men of this stamp, men with brains to act as protecting divinity, with worldly wisdom to diagnose like a surgeon, and with experience to take a mother’s place in warding off evil. These are the three cardinal virtues in matrimony.
    Honoré De Balzac (1799–1850)
