Relationship To Occupational Health Psychology

A separate but related discipline, occupational health psychology (OHP) is a relatively new field that emerged out of the confluence of health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and occupational health. The field is concerned with identifying psychosocial characteristics of workplaces that affect the health and well-being of people who work. OHP is also concerned with developing strategies to effect change at workplaces in order to improve the health of people who work. For more detail on OHP, see the entry on occupational health psychology.

Famous quotes containing the words relationship, occupational, health and/or psychology:

Guilty, guilty, guilty is the chant divorced parents repeat in their heads. This constant reminder remains just below our consciousness. Nevertheless, its presence clouds our judgment, inhibits our actions, and interferes in our relationship with our children. Guilt is a major roadblock to building a new life for yourself and to being an effective parent.
    Stephanie Marston (20th century)

There is, I confess, a hazard to the philosophical analysis of humor. If one rereads the passages that have been analyzed, one may no longer be able to laugh at them. This is an occupational hazard: Philosophy is taking the laughter out of humor.
    A.P. Martinich (b. 1946)

Mens sana in men’s sauna, in the flush
Of health and toilets, private and corporal glee,
    Anthony Hecht (b. 1923)

A large part of the popularity and persuasiveness of psychology comes from its being a sublimated spiritualism: a secular, ostensibly scientific way of affirming the primacy of “spirit” over matter.
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
