Hayward Field

Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, is one of the best-known historic track and field stadiums in the United States. Nearly a century in age, it was the home of the University of Oregon's football team from 1919 through 1966, and has been the home to the Ducks' track and field teams since 1921. Hayward Field was named after track coach Bill Hayward, who ran the Ducks' program from 1904 to 1947. Renovated in 2004, it is one of only five International Association of Athletic Federations Class 1 certified tracks in the United States (along with Hutsell-Rosen Track, Icahn Stadium, John McDonnell Field, and Estadio Francisco Montaner).

Famous quotes containing the word field:

An enormously vast field lies between “God exists” and “there is no God.” The truly wise man traverses it with great difficulty. A Russian knows one or the other of these two extremes, but is not interested in the middle ground. He usually knows nothing, or very little.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
