Shearer is the only one of the six regular voice actors from The Simpsons not to have won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance. However, he was nominated for the award in 2009 for his performance as Kent Brockman, Lenny, Mr. Burns and Smithers in the episode "The Burns and the Bees". He lost the award to Dan Castellaneta.
