Hammersmith & City Line - Map

Map

There are intermediate stations on the line at which trains can terminate in bay roads or reversing platforms. In normal use these are Edgware Road, Moorgate and Plaistow.

Additionally, the track layout outside certain stations allow trains to terminate and reverse from the 'running line' platforms. These are Baker Street, King's Cross St. Pancras, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Aldgate East, Bromley-by-Bow, West Ham, Plaistow and East Ham. Occasionally, Aldgate station (Metropolitan and Circle Lines) will be used, as H&C trains run over the same tracks and can be routed into that station. These are generally only used during degraded services (such as signal failures further down the line) and engineering works that require part of the line to be closed. However, some early trains are timetabled to use these reversing points in order to ensure they are operating normally.

Famous quotes containing the word map:

You can always tell a Midwestern couple in Europe because they will be standing in the middle of a busy intersection looking at a wind-blown map and arguing over which way is west. European cities, with their wandering streets and undisciplined alleys, drive Midwesterners practically insane.
    Bill Bryson (b. 1951)

In my writing I am acting as a map maker, an explorer of psychic areas ... a cosmonaut of inner space, and I see no point in exploring areas that have already been thoroughly surveyed.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)

When I had mapped the pond ... I laid a rule on the map lengthwise, and then breadthwise, and found, to my surprise, that the line of greatest length intersected the line of greatest breadth exactly at the point of greatest depth.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
