Count Gustaf Mauritz Armfelt (31 March 1757, Tarvasjoki, Finland Proper – 19 August 1814, Tsarskoye Selo, Russia ) was a Finnish and Swedish courtier and diplomat. In Finland, he is considered one of the great Finnish statesmen. Born in Tarvasjoki, Finland, he was the great grandson of Charles XII of Sweden's general, Carl Gustaf Armfeldt. His advice to Russia's Tsar Alexander I was of utmost importance for the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Finland prepared to become increasingly autonomous.
