Winter Life
Being a summer community, Groton Long Point experiences something of an exodus in early September as many of the summer families and the renters exit, leaving only a small number of full-time residents in the fall, winter and spring months. Children remaining often attend nearby Fitch Senior High School, in Groton.

Famous quotes containing the words winter and/or life:
“What is a farm but a mute gospel? The chaff and the wheat, weeds and plants, blight, rain, insects, sunit is a sacred emblem from the first furrow of spring to the last stack which the snow of winter overtakes in the fields.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods may be
That no life lives for ever;
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.”
—A.C. (Algernon Charles)
