Anti-doping Stance and Controversy
Greg LeMond was one of first professional cyclists of note to openly discuss the sport's extensive and troubled relationship with performance-enhancing substances and alleged corruption. He has taken a stand against doping for several reasons, including claims that deaths and suicides are linked to doping and that cyclists are being treated like "lab rats", as he told an audience at Coventry University: "The doctors, the management, the officials, they're the ones that have corrupted riders. The riders are the only ones that pay the price". This stance has brought him into conflict with some of the most famous names in the sport.

Famous quotes containing the words stance and/or controversy:
“For good teaching rests neither in accumulating a shelfful of knowledge nor in developing a repertoire of skills. In the end, good teaching lies in a willingness to attend and care for what happens in our students, ourselves, and the space between us. Good teaching is a certain kind of stance, I think. It is a stance of receptivity, of attunement, of listening.”
—Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
“Ours was a highly activist administration, with a lot of controversy involved ... but Im not sure that it would be inconsistent with my own political nature to do it differently if I had it to do all over again.”
—Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
