The J.J. Hospital Campus
At present, the campus is spread out over 44 acres (180,000 m2) in the Byculla area of South Mumbai- the largest of any of the Medical Colleges in Mumbai. The campus is notable for its greenery and spacious layout in an otherwise crowded area of the city. As most buildings were added over a prolonged period of time, the campus has a mix of buildings depicting both modern Indian and Colonial architecture. The campus also provides residential facilities to its teaching faculty, resident doctors, medical students, nurses and other hospital workers. The campus includes hospitals that were originally independent before being affiliated to J.J. Hospital and thus retain some of their older names including- C.J. Ophthalmic Hospital, B.J. Hospital for children and David Sasoon Hospital. The campus has a total of 45 wards, 5 hostels and 7 canteens.

Famous quotes containing the word hospital:
“The church is a sort of hospital for mens souls, and as full of quackery as the hospital for their bodies. Those who are taken into it live like pensioners in their Retreat or Sailors Snug Harbor, where you may see a row of religious cripples sitting outside in sunny weather.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
