Famous quotes containing the words gold, coast and/or city:
“We ask which means most, for us, all the genii
Or one man who, for us, is greater than they.
On his gold horse striding, like a conjured beast,
Miraculous in its panache and swish?”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
“On the Coast of Coromandel
Where the early pumpkins blow,
In the middle of the woods
Lived the Yonghy-Bonghy-Bo.
Two old chairs, and half a candle,
One old jug without a handle,
These were all his worldly goods:
In the middle of the woods,”
—Edward Lear (18121888)
“Nor is there singing school but studying
Monuments of its own magnificence;
And therefore I have sailed the seas and come
To the holy city of Byzantium.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
