Games With Secondary Scoring Other Than Goals

The following games have more than one possible method of scoring where the goal is the primary method, i.e. the method that scores the most points. Famous quotes containing the words games with, games, secondary and/or goals:

Whatever games are played with us, we must play no games with ourselves, but deal in our privacy with the last honesty and truth.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Criticism occupies the lowest place in the literary hierarchy: as regards form, almost always; and as regards moral value, incontestably. It comes after rhyming games and acrostics, which at least require a certain inventiveness.
    Gustave Flaubert (1821–1880)

A man may be defeated by his own secondary successes.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

Let us beware of saying there are laws in nature. There are only necessities: there is no one to command, no one to obey, no one to transgress. When you realize there are no goals or objectives, then you realize, too, that there is no chance: for only in a world of objectives does the word “chance” have any meaning.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
