Club Song
The Glenelg Football Club Song faced controversy during the 1970s as the original contained a line, "We're dashing, we're gay. We're the pride of the Bay". Due to political correctness, it was changed to "Tigerland" which was taken from the Richmond Football Club.
Oh we're from Tigerland
A fighting fury, we're from Tigerland
In any weather you'll see us with a grin
Risking head and shin
If we're behind then never mind
We'll fight and fight and win
For we're from Tigerland.
We never weaken till the final siren's gone
Like the Tiger of old, we're strong and we're bold
For we're from Tiger – yellow and black – we're from Tigerland.

Famous quotes containing the words club and/or song:
“I think there ought to be a club in which preachers and journalists could come together and have the sentimentalism of the one matched with the cynicism of the other. That ought to bring them pretty close to the truth.”
—Reinhold Niebuhr (18921971)
“Marlowe went muttering to death
When he had done with song and lust.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
