Ghosts (play) - Writing

Writing

Ghosts was written during the autumn of 1881 and was published in December of the same year. As early as November 1880, when Ibsen was living in Rome, he was meditating on a new play to follow A Doll's House. When he went to Sorrento, in the summer of 1881, he was hard at work upon it. It was finished by the end of November 1881.

Famous quotes containing the word writing:

If you want your writing to be taken seriously, don’t marry and have kids, and above all, don’t die. But if you have to die, commit suicide. They approve of that.
    Ursula K. Le Guin (b. 1929)

No race can prosper till it learns there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem.
    Booker T. Washington (1856–1915)

I think it’s the real world. The people we’re writing about in professional sports, they’re suffering and living and dying and loving and trying to make their way through life just as the brick layers and politicians are.
