German Euro Coins - Future Changes To National Sides

Future Changes To National Sides

The European Commission issued a recommendation on 19 December 2008, a common guideline for the national sides and the issuance of euro coins intended for circulation. One section of this recommendation stipulates that:

Article 2. Identification of the issuing Member State:
"The national sides of all denominations of the euro coins intended for circulation should bear an indication of the issuing Member State by means of the Member State’s name or an abbreviation of it."

A new design on the German euro coins is expected in the near future to comply with these new guidelines, although nothing officially has been announced.

Famous quotes containing the words future, national and/or sides:

That children link us with the future is hardly news. . . . When we participate in the growth of children, a sense of wonder must take hold of us, providing for us a sense of future. Without the intimation of concrete individual futures, it is hardly worth bothering with social change and improvement.
    Greta Hofmann Nemiroff (20th century)

    The progress
Is permanent like the preordained bulk
    Of the First National Bank
    Like fish sauce, but agreeable.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

The man who sees both sides of a question is a man who sees absolutely nothing at all.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
