George Hoadly (July 31, 1826 - August 26, 1902) was a Democratic politician. He served as the 36th Governor of Ohio.
Hoadly was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on July 31, 1826. As the son of George Hoadley and Mary Ann Woolsey Hoadley, his birth name was George Hoadley, but he later dropped the "e" from his surname.
Hoadly served as Governor from 1884 to 1886. During his term in office, the Cincinnati Riots of 1884 broke out over a case in which a jury gave a verdict of manslaughter rather than murder in a case that many suspected was rigged. Hoadly was slow to react as the violence escalated, and 45 people died during three days of rioting before troops reestablished calm.
