Famous quotes containing the word acting:
“It would be easy ... to regard the whole of world 3 as timeless, as Plato suggested of his world of Forms or Ideas.... I propose a different viewone which, I have found, is surprisingly fruitful. I regard world 3 as being essentially the product of the human mind.... More precisely, I regard the world 3 of problems, theories, and critical arguments as one of the results of the evolution of human language, and as acting back on this evolution.”
—Karl Popper (19021994)
“I could live without acting.... Acting is a gift Ive received. And Im grateful for it and I enjoy it. But its not the main point of my life. It never was.”
—Jeanne Moreau (b. 1928)
“Blessed be the inventor of photography! I set him above even the inventor of chloroform! It has given more positive pleasure to poor suffering humanity than anything else that has cast up in my time or is like tothis art by which even the poor can possess themselves of tolerable likenesses of their absent dear ones. And mustnt it be acting favourably on the morality of the country?”
—Jane Welsh Carlyle (18011866)
