Friday's first acting experience was in the Kirsten Sheridan film Disco Pigs (2001), in which he played a bit part.
In 2005 Gavin Friday played Billy Hatchett in the Neil Jordan film Breakfast on Pluto based on Irish author Patrick McCabe's book, which had been influenced by Friday's album Shag Tobacco. On the soundtrack he sings "Wig Wam Bam" and "Sand", a duet with Cillian Murphy.

Famous quotes containing the word acting:
“It especially helps if you know that were all faking our adulthoodeven your parents and their parents. Beneath these adult trappingsin our president, in our parents, in you and melurk the emotions of a child. If we know that only about ourselves, we become infantile; if we understand that about everybody, then we have nothing to be ashamed ofunless, of course, we go around acting like a child and expecting everyone else to act like grownups.”
—Frank Pittman (20th century)
“The old-fashioned idea that the simple piling up of experiences, one on top of another, can make you an artist, is, of course, so much rubbish. If acting were just a matter of experience, then any busy harlot could make Garbos Camille pale.”
—Helen Hayes (19001993)
“I would rather miss the mark acting well than win the day acting basely.”
—Sophocles (497406/5 B.C.)
