Gap (clothing Retailer) - Attempt To Introduce A New Logo

Attempt To Introduce A New Logo

On October 6, 2010, Gap debuted a new logo in an attempt to create a more contemporary presence in the retail market. The new logo was made with Helvetica typeface and reduced the prominence of the blue box that had become iconic with the brand. There was a public outcry against the new logo, especially in the graphic design community. The company returned to its previous "blue box" logo on October 12, only a week after the new logo's debut. Marka Hansen, the executive who oversaw the logo change, resigned February 1, 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words attempt to, attempt and/or introduce:

In the deeper layers of the modern consciousness ... every attempt to succeed is an act of aggression, leaving one alone and guilty and defenseless among enemies: one is punished for success. This is our intolerable dilemma: that failure is a kind of death and success is evil and dangerous, is—ultimately—impossible.
    Robert Warshow (1917–1955)

... it is not only our fate but our business to lose innocence, and once we have lost that it is futile to attempt a picnic in Eden.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)

Some parents feel that if they introduce their children to alcohol gradually in the home environment, the children will learn to use alcohol in moderation. I’m not sure that’s such a good idea. First of all, alcohol is not healthy for the growing child. Second, introducing alcohol to a child suggests that you condone drinking—even to the point where you want to teach your child how to drink.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)
