Gainesville Regional Airport - Current Expansion Activities

Current Expansion Activities

Phase three of the renovations include various renovations to the terminal area to increase capacity, improve aesthetics, and reduce environmental impacts. Parking lots were repaved, car rental facilities were expanded, and solar panels were installed on the roof. Vestibule entryways will replace sliding doors to reduce loss of conditioned air and energy-efficient LED lighting will be used on the exterior. In 2012, the airport conducted studies for a terminal expansion to allow for an additional security line and new concourses.

A new access road is also under construction. When completed, the two-lane, boulevard style roadway will connect the passenger terminal with nearby Waldo Road (SR 24)

Famous quotes containing the words current, expansion and/or activities:

It is a quite remarkable fact that the great religions of the most civilized peoples are more deeply fraught with sadness than the simpler beliefs of earlier societies. This certainly does not mean that the current of pessimism is eventually to submerge the other, but it proves that it does not lose ground and that it does not seem destined to disappear.
    Emile Durkheim (1858–1917)

We are caught up Mr. Perry on a great wave whether we will or no, a great wave of expansion and progress. All these mechanical inventions—telephones, electricity, steel bridges, horseless vehicles—they are all leading somewhere. It’s up to us to be on the inside in the forefront of progress.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

Love and work are viewed and experienced as totally separate activities motivated by separate needs. Yet, when we think about it, our common sense tells us that our most inspired, creative acts are deeply tied to our need to love and that, when we lack love, we find it difficult to work creatively; that work without love is dead, mechanical, sheer competence without vitality, that love without work grows boring, monotonous, lacks depth and passion.
Marta Zahaykevich, Ucranian born-U.S. psychitrist. “Critical Perspectives on Adult Women’s Development,” (1980)
