Gabrielle Carteris - Personal Life

Personal Life

Carteris was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, the daughter of Marlene, a realtor, and Ernest J. Carteris, a restaurant owner. Her father was of Greek ancestry. She has a twin brother, James. Her parents separated six months after her birth. Carteris's mother moved with her children to San Francisco, California, where she set up a children's clothing store. While attending high school in Marin County, California, Carteris took an interest in the arts, studying ballet and performing as a mime on a European tour at 16 years old. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts.

She married Charles Isaacs, a stockbroker, in 1992, and has two daughters with him named Kelsey Rose (born may 11, 1994) and Mollie Elizabeth (born 1999).

In the March 17, 2008 issue of People magazine, Carteris described an injury suffered while filming a TV movie in Vancouver, Canada, in 2006 that partially paralyzed her face and affected her speech for over six months.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

Life is not an easy matter.... You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above personal misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness.
    Leon Trotsky (1879–1940)

The shortest way out of Manchester is notoriously a bottle of Gordon’s gin; out of any businessman’s life there is the mirage of Paris; out of Paris, or mediocrity of talent and imagination, there are all the drugs, from subtle, all-conquering opium to cheating, cozening cocaine.
    William Bolitho (1890–1930)
