Fuad II of Egypt - Marriage and Children

Marriage and Children

In 1976, the former king married Dominique-France Picard (née Loeb, born 1948), the daughter of Robert Loeb and his wife, Paule Picard. She converted to Islam and assumed the title Queen Fadila of Egypt. The couple had three children before they divorced in 1997.

Their children are:

  • HRH Muhammad Ali, Prince of the Sa'id (born 5 February 1979)
  • HRH Princess Fawzia-Latifa (born 12 February 1982)
  • HRH Prince Fakhr Eddin (born 25 August 1987)

In May 2010, he recorded a television interview with "ON TV" talking about his visit to Egypt, and how he felt about the Egyptian people, and their view of his late father.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or children:

Every relationship that does not raise us up pulls us down, and vice versa; this is why men usually sink down somewhat when they take wives while women are usually somewhat raised up. Overly spiritual men require marriage every bit as much as they resist it as bitter medicine.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Just as children, step by step, must separate from their parents, we will have to separate from them. And we will probably suffer...from some degree of separation anxiety: because separation ends sweet symbiosis. Because separation reduces our power and control. Because separation makes us feel less needed, less important. And because separation exposes our children to danger.
    Judith Viorst (20th century)
