Fritz Strassmann
Friedrich Wilhelm "Fritz" Strassmann (German: Straßmann; February 22, 1902 - April 22, 1980) was a German chemist who, with Otto Hahn in 1938, identified barium in the residue after bombarding uranium with neutrons, results which, when confirmed, demonstrated the previously unknown phenomenon of nuclear fission. Straßmann was recognized by Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial as Righteous Among the Nations.
