The lover sees no resemblance except to summer evenings and diamond mornings, to rainbows and the song of birds.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Nominee. A modest gentleman shrinking from the distinction of private life and diligently seeking the honorable obscurity of public office.
    Ambrose Bierce (1842–1914)
