Famous quotes containing the words french, air and/or force:

    Just as the French of the nineteenth century invested their surplus capital in a railway-system in the belief that they would make money by it in this life, in the thirteenth they trusted their money to the Queen of Heaven because of their belief in her power to repay it with interest in the life to come.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

    As in hoary winter’s night stood shivering in the snow,
    Surprised I was with sudden heat which made my heart to glow;
    And lifting up a fearful eye to view what fire was near,
    A pretty Babe all burning bright did in the air appear;
    Robert Southwell (1561?–1595)

    Teach us to live our lives with purpose and with power
    for visions of a better world and for decision’s hour;
    To choose the way of life, reject the way of death,
    until the radiant force of God fills mind and strength and breath.
    Walter J. Mathams (19th–20th centuries)
