Free Throw

Free Throw

In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points from a restricted area on the court (the free throw line; informally known as the foul line), and are generally awarded after a foul on the shooter by the opposing team. Each successful free throw is worth one point.

Famous quotes containing the words free and/or throw:

    No human being, however great, or powerful, was ever so free as a fish.
    John Ruskin (1819–1900)

    For poetry, he’s past his prime,
    He takes an hour to find a rhyme;
    His fire is out, his wit decayed,
    His fancy sunk, his muse a jade.
    I’d have him throw away his pen,
    But there’s no talking to some men.
    Jonathan Swift (1667–1745)
