Aoun Return From Exile
For many years, while Aoun was exiled in Paris, he led the FPM from abroad. He returned to Lebanon on May 7, 2005 after the Cedar Revolution forced the withdrawal of the Syrian forces, and then contested the legislative elections held in late May in early June although it placed him on the head of the largest Christian group of deputies.
Aoun also contested the Cedar Revolution which itself gave him the opportunity to come back to Lebanon.

Famous quotes containing the words return and/or exile:
“If a man, notoriously and designedly, insults and affronts you, knock him down; but if he only injures you, your best revenge is to be extremely civil to him in your outward behaviour, though at the same time you counterwork him, and return him the compliment, perhaps with interest.”
—Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (16941773)
“the bird in the poplar tree
dreaming, his head
tucked into
far-and-near exile under his wing ...”
—Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
